Walk to School Day began as a simple idea – children and parents, school and local officials walking to school together on designated spring and fall days.  It is an energizing event, reminding everyone of the simple joy of walking to school, the health benefits of regular activity, and the need for safe places to walk and bike. Education surrounding the event focuses on health, safety, physical activity and concern for the environment.

Creedmoor Elementary joins schools from around the world to celebrate Walk to School Day in May and October when approximately 350 students walk to school along with parents, teachers, and community leaders.  The day begins at 7:00 a.m. with students arriving by bus or parent drop-off at South Granville High School, 701 N. Crescent Drive.  Students then use city sidewalks to safely walk to school; local officials, residents, parents, and teachers are stationed along the route for safety.

The Creedmoor Police Department provides traffic control during the event, and organizers ask motorists to drive cautiously.

The local event is organized by the City of Creedmoor, Creedmoor Elementary School, the Creedmoor Police Department, Safe Routes to School, Granville Greenways, NCDOT and UNC Highway Safety Research Center.

Residents are encouraged to register for e-Notification to stay informed of event news and happenings in Creedmoor.  Visit the Events Calendar page to check the date for the next Walk to School Day.

Easter Egg Hunt

  • Date: 03/25/2024 11:00 AM

The Easter Bunny Hops into Creedmoor

The City of Creedmoor’s Annual Easter Egg Hunt is scheduled for Saturday, March 25*, at Lake Rogers Park beginning at 11 a.m. This event is FREE and open to the public!

Families are invited to gather at Lake Rogers Park for the annual event, organized and co-hosted by the Southern Granville Woman’s Club, Creedmoor Volunteer Fire Department and the City of Creedmoor.

The event is open to children ages 8 years and younger. During the egg hunt, participants will be divided into three age groups: 1-3, 4-6, and 7-8 years old.  The egg hunts will take place simultaneously on the lawn of the playground.

Over a thousand colorful, plastic eggs will be scattered over the grounds. Two golden eggs in each age group can be claimed for a prize.

After all the eggs have been collected, participants are encouraged to visit with the Easter Bunny, join FBC Creedmoor to make a craft and explore Lake Rogers Park’s playground and trails.

In case of inclement weather, a rain date has been scheduled for Monday, March 25 at 6:00pm.*
