Overview
Crime Stoppers is a program in which members of the community, the media, law enforcement agencies, and businesses work together to solve crime. Citizens are encouraged, via cash rewards and a promise of anonymity, to provide information leading to the arrest and indictment of criminals.

Crime Stoppers is made up of volunteers in Granville County - your neighbors - who are willing to take action against crime. We want our community to be a safe one and we are willing to work to make it that way. Crime Stoppers is administered by a board of directors along with members of our community and officers from local law enforcement agencies who have volunteered to give their time and talents to the program.

Benefits
All of us benefit. A criminal who is taken from the mainstream of our community is not a threat to you, your children, or your business. And, in a community where citizens work together to solve crimes, the threat of swift, sure punishment serves as a strong deterrent to would-be criminals. Thousands of dollars’ worth of stolen property is recovered each year through Crime Stoppers' information, often amounting to ten times the amount Crime Stoppers paid out to solve the crime.

Each week facts pertaining to an unsolved crime are publicized via radio, newspaper, and televised crime re-enactments, and citizens are encouraged to call Crime Stoppers with any information about the case or any unsolved crime. Each informant is given a code number so that confidentiality and anonymity are ensured. Rewards of up to $2000 for information leading to the arrest of a criminal provide incentive to participants. The amount of the payment is determined by the value of the evidence provided.

Crime Stoppers is not funded by tax dollars. Donations must come from private sources. Individuals, professional associations, corporations, retailers and civic and social groups are our only sources of revenue. Crime Stoppers' only purpose is to make your community a better and safer place to live and we need your help to reach that goal. Crime Stoppers gives every citizen the opportunity to actually do something about the problem of crime in our community. Your donations will have an actual impact in reducing crime and removing criminals from our community.

Tax Deduction for Donations
Crime Stoppers has been approved by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501c(3) organization, and therefore all contributions are tax deductible.
