Responsibilities

Music4

Two entities are responsible for road maintenance within the City of Creedmoor limits.  The Public Works Department is responsible for the maintenance and repair of the city's approximate 18 miles of streets along with sidewalks, signage, drainage, and rights-of-way.  State roadways are maintained by NCDOT.  If you would like to see who maintains the street that you live on, you can review the Powell Map (roadways shown in red are maintained by NCDOT and roadways shown in black are maintained by the City of Creedmoor).

Inclement Weather Road Issues

Snow Removal

The Creedmoor Public Works Department provides snow removal for city-maintained streets and roadways when snow accumulation amounts to about one inch in depth.  The plowing schedule and route are determined based on total accumulation, prevailing conditions, and near future forecasts.  NCDOT is responsible for snow removal for all state roadways.

Residents need to participate in achieving effective snow removal operations by moving their vehicles off the street during snow events.  Clearing streets curb to curb results in better quality snow removal and less rework after parked cars are moved.  Timely plowing minimizes the quantity of residual ice and snow on the roadway that results when compaction occurs because plowing is delayed in those areas.  For ice accumulation, salt and sand are put at intersections and on
steep inclines as needed.
